Battleborn Batteries
We knew we wanted to install Lithium Ion batteries in our boat - presumably for all the same reasons as everyone else who has ever done it… fear of running your batteries down too low and wrecking them being the main one.* So we were pretty excited to discover that, although our boat didn’t come with them, the previous owner had started the process and there was already a new inverter system installed.
We went to the Miami Boat Show to explore our options and, having heard great things about Battleborn, spoke with their reps, got an attendee discount, and ordered them pretty quickly afterward.
They have served us well - we would just love a few more. Or at least one so that we can have an actual starter battery (I know, I know). Fingers crossed they are handling Maine winters better than we ever did.
*Reasons we decided that Lithium Ion batteries were the way to go:
They are much, much lighter than lead-acid batteries. So you can have more of them if you need.
They charge faster and you can use the entirety of the charge
They tend to last longer, even with more use. So they cost more (which is a definite con on a budget), but you don’t have to replace them as frequently.
